Hygiene in hydroponic systems

Regular up keep of the growing system and surrounding area is necessary to prevent the accumulation of harmful materials and minimize pest and disease problems.

Diseased foliage should be promptly cut from plants and removed from the growing area along with other waste material. Surfaces must be kept clean from dust, dirt and spillages. Other worthwhile precautions include minimizing personnel traffic in the area, no smoking and filtration of the air supply.
